Marchionne is satisfied with Chrysler's progression, but has no plans to stop there. By the end of 2011, he expects Chrysler to have refinanced its federal loans and completed an initial public offering or IPO. At the annual NADA convention in San Francisco in early February 2011, Marchionne suggested an official marriage between Fiat and Chrsyler is likely, resulting in a unified automaker based most likely in the United States.
Fast forward to 2011 and Chrysler's financial picture has improved tremendously, with the automaker pulling in profits and selling more cars. For the 2011 model year, Chrysler is offering customers 16 new or significantly improved models, representing one of the most ambitious product line overhauls undertaken by an automaker.
